Holiday Road South Sewer Pump Station Improvement Project

Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA is continuing work on a project to upgrade the existing sanitary sewer pump station at 7834 Holiday Road South. The treatment process at the facility is being improved by adding new process equipment and repurposing the existing equipment to update the facility, which will improve its reliability, production capacity and reduce odors.

The first phase of the construction process involved installing a temporary by-pass pumping system located at the station property. The pumping system will operate 24/7 during this time and are necessary to help move wastewater along during construction. We anticipate this pumping system will remain in place until late April 2022*.

Estimated Project Completion Date: July 2022*

Some of the upgrades to the station include:

  • Installing equipment to increase water treatment output, including headworks, bioreactors, clarifiers, expansion of the existing filters and ultraviolet disinfection, solids dewatering facility, reclaimed water storage tank and chemical systems
  • Cleaning, modifying and repurposing of the existing process facility to support the new systems, bringing the new repurposed facilities on line, and balancing with the new water treatment process to finalize the plant expansion
  • Replacing all valving and piping and upgrading the electrical components of the plant
  • Installing larger pumps and an emergency generator to help reduce or eliminate the occurrence of future sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs)
  • Installing a new monitoring system to monitor generator function
  • Installing a new, modern, odor control systems that will greatly reduce odor from the facility
  • New security fencing around the site (JEA standard of chain link fence with black slats)
