Jack Horner Lane Water Improvement Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2013-06-27
Anticipated End Date: 2013-11-30
This project has been completed. Below is the information that was provided to customers prior to the project start date.

Roads Affected

Jack Horner Lane, Lane Avenue, Miss Muffet Lane North

Project Objective

JEA crews will be replacing and upgrading the existing Water Main along Jack Horner Lane from Lane Avenue to Miss Muffet Lane North. JEA will also install (4) new fire hydrants to improve area fire protection. When completed, this project will increase water pressure and provide for better system reliability. Installation of the new water main will be done primarily with a technique called directional drilling. Directional drilling requires very little excavation, reduces construction duration, and is less disruptive to the surrounding community. Once drilling operations are underway, it may be necessary for the contractor to work extended hours until the drill is complete.

Construction Conditions

Construction will occur in the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and City of Jacksonville (COJ) rights of way and easements. JEA crews will be required to string the water pipe along the side streets prior to welding, drill and installation. Some residents may have limited access to driveways for approximately 1-2 days while the pipe is installed. The contractor will notify the affected residents prior to working in front of each driveway. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

Water Outages:

Some customers will experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents may also experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home or business from the old water service to the new water service.

Restoration of the Project Area:

Restoration of the project area will begin once the water lines are installed and have been tested and cleared for use. The cleaning and testing of new water lines can take several weeks, but is necessary to provide our customers with the best service possible. Upon completion of the project, any existing grass, curb, swales, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its preconstruction condition.
