Mercado Drive - Arthur Durham Drive Sewer Improvement Project

Project Objective
JEA replaced the sanitary sewer lines and individual sewer service connections that currently serve homes from the utility easement located in the rear of properties on Mercado Drive and Arthur Durham Drive.
This work included the replacement of the existing 8-inch sanitary sewer gravity main and sanitary sewer connections to select homes located along the new sewer main route. Please see the map below to see which homes were included.
Construction Conditions
To complete this project, a contractor (IPR) working for JEA used a construction method called pipe bursting. Pipe bursting enables the replacement of existing sewer pipes with minimal disruption to the community and the environment. Once the main sanitary sewer line is installed, the contractor proceeded with connecting existing private service lines (at the right-of-way) to the new sewer line. This is usually completed within two (2) days after the installation of the new sewer main. T
Construction primarily occurred within the City of Jacksonville’s roads, rights-of-way, and primarily in the 10-foot utility easement located in the rear of the properties on Mercado Drive and Arthur Durham Drive. .jpg "Arthur Durham and Mercado Drive")
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area will begin after the new sewer main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, concrete, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalk affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition. JEA’s contractor will also work with each individual homeowner to repair or replace any fencing damaged during the project.
