Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (IPR) replaced a portion of sanitary sewer main line on N. Jefferson Street from W. Bay Street to N. Forsyth Street. Potential failures to sewer mains can cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues if not repaired promptly. This project will increase the reliability of the sewer system and help prevent future sewer main breaks.
Construction Conditions
This sewer installation was completed using the pipebursting method of construction. This method is less disruptive to neighborhoods than the traditional open-cut method of replacing sewer lines, and the overall project duration is typically shorter. Watch a video explaining the method.

Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area began after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction was returned to its pre-construction condition.
