Project Objective

JEA crews replaced a failing sanitary sewer line on N. Liberty Street between E. 4th Street and E. 5th Street. This work was necessary to ensure the reliability of the sewer system that serves the area.  For the safety of our crews, this work will required the removal of ground water with pump systems prior to any excavation. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. For the safety of our crews and the general public, we were required to temporarily close Liberty Street North between E. 3rd Street and E. 5th Street and E. 4th Street between N. Market Street and Walnut Street during construction. Residents had access to their homes and motorists were permitted to drive (with caution) within work area (please see work area maps below). Please observe all construction signs, detours, and general directions provided by the crews working on-site. Please see the work area map below.

This work did not impact JEA electric, water and/or sewer service.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will typically take place 2-3 weeks after the sewer line has been replaced, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing grass, sprinklers, pavement, curb, gutter, driveways and/or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
