Nassau - Harts Road Reclaimed Water Extension Project

Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2019-04-10
Anticipated End Date: 2019-12-31

Project Objective

JEA recently completed the installation of 11,000 linear feet of reclaimed water main pipe in the area of Harts Road. This main will provide reclaimed water for irrigation purposes for the school, YMCA building and for future development. JEA’s reuse (reclaimed) water system expansion provides a dual benefit by reducing discharge to Yulee wetland areas while offsetting additional groundwater aquifer withdrawals and saving potable water for drinking and personal use.

Following our water project, a gas line was also installed by Florida Public Utilities (FPU) along portions of the same route on Harts Road.

Final Paving - Harts Road

Now that both projects are completed, both utilities will be working together to repair, mill and resurface a segment of Harts Road from south of William Burgess Boulevard to Clyde Higginbotham Road. Leveling and repair work will be occurring Thursday, June 18th  and Friday June 19th  in preparation for final paving. The final paving work will occur on Thursday, June 25th and Friday, June 26th  (weather permitting). Permanent road striping will be scheduled 2-4 weeks after final paving is completed.

For the safety of our crews and the general public, the contractor will be required to temporarily close a single lane of traffic along Harts Road to complete the repair and paving work. Traffic will be flagged through the one open traffic lane. We suggest that area traffic avoid the work area and take alternate routes when possible. Please observe all signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working onsite.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin (August/September 2019) soon after the pipes have been installed and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
