Project Objective

JEA completed a project to upgrade the Nassau Regional Water Treatment Facility located at 96362 Piedmont Drive. The previous plant was constructed in the early 1980’s and contained several potable aquifer wells, two above ground storage tanks, and a system to disinfect and deliver treated water to the JEA water distribution system in the Yulee area.

Due to the rapid growth in the Nassau County, the existing potable water storage system needs to be expanded to meet projected water demands during peak time periods. This project involved installing a new storage tank on the existing JEA property to help meet this future demand.

Construction Conditions

While the construction took place behind the fenced areas of the JEA facility, residents may have noticed increased large truck traffic in the area hauling and delivering equipment. Additionally, JEA was required to remove a couple of large pine trees to install the new reservoir and will install a new perimeter fence for security purposes around the treatment plant site. The existing vegetative buffer remains.

The upgraded facility will be able to support the future water demands of the Yulee area.
