Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2013-07-01
Anticipated End Date: 2013-10-31
This project has been completed. Below is the information that was provided to customers prior to the project start date.

Roads Affected

Lane Avenue, Normandy Boulevard, Verna Boulevard

Project Objective

A contractor (JB Coxwell Contracting) working for JEA will be upgrading the existing water main which currently serves area businesses. This project will include the installation of a new 12-inch water main, individual water services (to the water meter) and the installation of three (3) new fire hydrants on the south side of Normandy Boulevard from Lane Avenue to Verna Boulevard. When completed, this project will increase area water pressure, provide better water system reliability and improved fire protection.

Construction Conditions

Construction will occur in the Florida Department of Transportation rights of way and easements. There will be periods when roads and driveways to businesses will have limited access while the water main is installed. However, the contractor will be required to maintain the organized flow of traffic in and out of each business at all times. The contractor will be working primarily in the evenings and early morning (Sunday-Thursday, 8PM to 6AM) to reduce the impact of construction on area businesses and local commuters. When open cutting driveways, the contractor will notify each business affected by the construction 7 days in advance by using door hanger type notices, onsite signs or verbally (in-person). During the installation of the water main across entrances/exits for each business, the contractor will temporarily restore and open driveways for traffic each morning (6 AM daily).

Planned Water Outages

JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Customers may experience a brief (15 to 20 minutes) outage while crews transfer your business from the old water service to the new water service.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin once the water lines are installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing landscaping, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
