Parental Home Road Sewer Improvement Project

Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Callaway Contracting, Inc.) replaced a failing sanitary sewer manhole at the intersection of Parental Home Road and Emily Lane. This sewer manhole had to be replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA sewer system in the area. Failures to sewer manholes can potentially cause sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads and easements. For the safety of crews and the general public, we were required to temporarily close and detour traffic on Parental Home Road between Hirsch Avenue and Dean Road while this work was being completed. Please see the project area and detour map below.
Once repairs to the manhole is complete, crews will replace a section of the sewer line from on Emily Lane from Parental Home Road to just short of Emily Court. More information will be provided to local residents once the work on Emily Lane is ready to start.

Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the sewer main and manhole have been installed, tested, and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to pre-construction conditions.
