Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA (Williams Industrial)  has completed work on a project to replace and upgrade the sanitary sewer force main that serves the area. This pipe had reached the end of its useful service life and required replacement. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants.

This pipe conveys approximately 325,000 gallons of sewage a day that is transported to JEA’s nearby Arlington East Wastewater Treatment Facility. The new sewer transmission main will improve sewer service reliability and assist with future growth in the area.

The new 12-inch sewer transmission main was installed beginning at JEA’s existing sewer pump station located at 5838 Pompano Drive, then down Cesery Boulevard to the intersection of Regiment Drive and Kenniston Lane. Please see the work area map below.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in the City of Jacksonville’s streets, rights of way and easements. Residents who resided within the project boundaries were provided access to their homes and businesses and permitted to drive (with caution) within the construction area. There were times during the day when customers may have had limited access when the contractor was working directly in front of homes or businesses.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the pipes have been installed and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
