Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA has completed upgrades to many of the sanitary sewer pump stations that serve our area.This project included the installation of a new concrete pad-mounted electric generator at the below locations.
The main purpose of this project was to provide back-up power generation to pump stations in the event of an unplanned power outage. Power loss to a sanitary sewer pump station can sometimes result in what is called a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO). An SSO can occur when sewage (or wastewater) unintentionally overflows or leaks from the sewer collection system due to a broken pipe, overflow at a manhole or failing pump station.

The contractor first installed the concrete pad which is designed to keep the generator out of water in the event of flooding. This was followed by the installation of the necessary electrical system and placement of the generator by crane. The generator was then tested for several hours to be cleared for final use. Upon completion of the project, the area around the sanitary sewer pump station was cleaned up and restored to pre-construction condition.
