Rivertown Water Treatment Facility Project

A contractor working for JEA (Williams Industrial Services) is constructing a new water treatment facility in the Rivertown area. Once in operation, this potable (drinking) water facility will treat, store and pump treated water into JEA’s distribution system, providing water service to northwest St. Johns County. The addition of this water treatment facility will allow for future growth in St. Johns County, while providing improved water pressure and system reliability to all of our customers in the area.

This project includes construction of the water treatment plant (with new storage tank, piping, emergency generator, and pump house), three (3) raw water production wells (two primary wells, one back up well), and raw and finished water pipelines for transferring raw water from the wells to the treatment plant and for transferring finished water from the treatment plant to our distribution system. The piping includes the directional drill installation of 18-inch high density polyethylene (HDPE) piping adjacent to the west side of Longleaf Pine Parkway.  Restoration of the project area will take place as work is completed.  

Work will primarily occur on the facility property located at 7612 Longleaf Pine Parkway, and in St. Johns County rights-of-way and utility easements.  Please see the overall project work area map.

Project Update - August 5, 2022

To reduce congestion during high traffic periods, all lanes of traffic on Longleaf Pine Parkway were reopened by Sunday, August 7, 2022.

For the safety of our crews and the general public, the sidewalk and shoulder on the west side of Longleaf Pine Parkway between Greenbriar Road and Rivertown Main Street will remained closed while the work to install the HDPE piping that connect one of JEA's wells to the water treatment plant is completed.

Pedestrians/bicyclists traveling southbound on the west side of Longleaf Pine Parkway will need to cross Longleaf Pine Parkway at Greenbriar Road, and pedestrian/bicyclists traveling northbound on the west side of Longleaf Pine Parkway will need to cross Longleaf Pine Parkway at Rivertown Main Street to follow the sidewalk detour.
