Project Objective
Beginning in late Fall 2015, JEA began rebuilding and upgrading the Rosselle Street substation located at 2640 Rosselle Street. This is one of two electrical substations (Herschel Street substation) being rebuilt in the Riverside area.
The existing electrical equipment for this existing substation was installed in 1959 and is reaching the end of its service life. JEA has determined that this substation needs to rebuilt and upgraded to comply with current codes and industry standards. When completed, this new substation will improve electric service reliability to the area.
Construction Conditions
Restoration of Project Area
JEA will also be replacing the existing chain link fence with a faux ornamental black fence. Upon completion of the substation work, JEA will be adding substantial landscaping to improve the aesthetics of the property. Plans for this project have been reviewed and approved by the Jacksonville Historic Preservation Commission.
Additionally, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.

Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
