Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Vortex Companies) replaced a portion of the sanitary sewer lines on Seaboard Avenue from Seaboard Court to Tara Woods Lane. These existing sewer lines had reached the end of their useful service lives and were proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the sewer system and to prevent any future sewer main breaks. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
This project was completed using a trenchless lining technology that allows for the rehabilitation of the existing pipe with minimal disruption to the community. This technology also reduces the amount of time it would take to complete a similar project using traditional construction methods. Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights of way, roads and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the manhole lining has been completed, and the manholes have been tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
