This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to customers prior to the project start date.
Roads Affected
Old Hickory Road, South Shores Road
Project Objective
JEA will be replacing the existing individual water services on South Shores Road from Old Hickory Road to Atlantic Boulevard. As part of this project, crews will only be replacing the “long side” water services that extend from the existing JEA water main on one side of the street to the water meter boxes located on the opposite side of the road.
JEA is proactively installing these new water services in preparation for a future City of Jacksonville street resurfacing project on South Shores Road. By doing this work now, JEA crews can avoid digging up the newly paved streets to make repairs to these services in the future. The water main on this street is in good condition and does not require replacement at this time.

Construction Conditions
Construction will occur in the City’s rights of way and easements. Crews will be required to make two excavations on each side of the road to install each new service. There may be times when your road will have limited access while the water services are being installed. Crews will maintain the flow of traffic, although residents may experience some minor delays.
Water Outages
Residents may experience a brief (10 to 15 minutes) outage while crews transfer your home from the old water service to the new water service.
Restoration of Project Area
Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
