St. Augustine Road Water Improvement Project

This project has been completed. Below is the information provided to customers prior to the project start date.

Roads Affected

Dunsford Road, Dunsford Terrace, Felch Avenue, Geneve Street, Inwood Terrace, Kingswood Road, Lordun Terrace, Lorimier Road, Lorimier Terrace, Philips Highway, St. Augustine Road

Project Objective

A contractor (T.G. Utility Company, Incorporated) working for JEA will be installing a new water main on the west side of St. Augustine Road from Philips Highway (US-1) to Inwood Terrace. This project will also include the installation of new individual water services (to the property line) and nine (9) new fire hydrants. When completed, the new main will increase area water pressure, provide for better system reliability and fire protection.

Construction Areas

Construction will primarily occur in the City of Jacksonville and Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) rights of way, roads and easements. There will be times when roads will have limited access while the water main is installed but the flow of traffic will be maintained. Please observe all construction signs, detours, and general directions provided by the contractor crews working onsite. We apologize in advance for any traffic delays caused by this work.

Sections of driveways will be removed and replaced to install the pipe. Residents affected will be notified in advance by crews to allow for removal of vehicles prior to driveway construction.

Planned Water Outages

The contractor will notify affected businesses 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Customers may experience a brief (15 to 20 minutes) outage while crews transfer your business from the old water service to the new water service.

Restoration of Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the water main has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
