Estimated Dates & Work Schedule
Anticipated End Date: 2021-08-27
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.*
*In some circumstances, extended hours and weekends may be required.
Project Objective
JEA crews repaired a sanitary sewer manhole near the intersection of Challen Avenue and St. Johns Avenue. This repair was necessary to ensure the reliability of the sewer system that serves the neighborhood. Failures to sewer manholes can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads and easements. For the safety of our crews and the general public, we were required to temporarily close and detour a portion of St. Johns Avenue between Avondale Avenue and Edgewood Avenue to complete this work. Please see the detour map below.
Restoration of Project Area
Restoration of the project area began after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction are returned pre-construction condition.
