Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Baldwin’s Quality Plumbing) replaced a portion of aging sanitary sewer force main along 101st Street and Acoma Avenue. The new force main was installed on 101st Street, from the north-west corner of Timawatha Avenue to Acoma Avenue, and on Acoma Avenue from 101st Street to the easement behind the homes, at the end of Acoma Avenue.
The existing sewer force main had reached the end of its useful service life needed to be proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the JEA sewer system in the area. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants. Failures to sewer mains can cause sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area began after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction are returned pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
