Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Murphy Pipeline) replaced portions of a sanitary sewer main line at 1314 Union Street West. This sewer line had reached the end of its useful service life and was proactively replaced to ensure the reliability of the sewer system. Failures to sewer lines can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues.
This project was completed using the pipe bursting method of construction. This method is less disruptive to neighborhoods than the traditional open-cut method of replacing sewer lines and the overall project duration is typically shorter. Watch a video to learn more about the pipe bursting process. Learn more at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5JRzpwSbUs.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.
Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins within 2-3 weeks after the sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways, or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to their pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
