Project Objective
A contractor working for JEA (Murphy Pipeline Contractors) replaced a portion of sanitary sewer main line on W. 9th Street between Prospect Street West and Prospect Street East. Failures to sewer mains can potentially cause major sewer back-ups, environmental harm and roadway issues if not repaired promptly. Once completed, this project will increase the reliability of the sewer system and help prevent future sewer main breaks.
Construction Conditions
Construction primarily occurred in City of Jacksonville rights-of-way, roads, and easements.
This sewer installation was completed using the pipebursting method of construction. This method is less disruptive to neighborhoods than the traditional open-cut method of replacing sewer lines, and the overall project duration is typically shorter. Restoration of the Project Area
Restoration of the project area typically begins 2-3 weeks after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction was returned to its pre-construction condition.
Even Better Power Reliability
JEA's state-of-the-art technology identifies customers and neighborhoods in need of electric reliability improvements.
