Estimated Dates & Work Schedule

Anticipated Start Date: 2020-05-29
Anticipated End Date: 2020-08-31

Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.*

Project Objective

The purpose of this project was to replace a portion of the aging sanitary sewer infrastructure that serves the area. These pipes had reached the end of their service lives and needed to be proactively replaced to increase the reliability of the water and sewer system and to prevent any future main breaks.

This work will included the replacement of 460 linear feet of the existing 8-inch sanitary sewer gravity main and 70 linear feet of 2-inch PVC water main on West 5th Street from Whitner Street to Blue Avenue. Several properties were also be switched over to an existing 6-inch water main as part of the project.

Construction Conditions

Construction occurred in the City’s streets, rights of way and easements.

Water Outages

Some customers may experience minor interruptions to their water service. JEA will notify customers 48 hours prior to any planned outages. Residents that reside along the construction route may also experience a brief (10- to 15-minute) outage while crews transfer your home or business from the old water service to the new water service.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area will begin after the new water and sewer mains have been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction will be returned to its pre-construction condition.
